A day after her husband’s big election night win, Melania Trump took to social media to address the nation.
“The majority of Americans have entrusted us with this important responsibility,” Mrs Trump said.
“We will safeguard the heart of the republic – freedom,” she vowed, and urged Americans to rise above ideology for the sake of the country.
It was a brief message, but suggested a shift in how the former first lady will approach the role this second time around.
When Trump won his first presidency in 2016, his wife was initially absent from the White House, instead staying in New York with their young son. She appeared reticent, at times, with the traditions set out by first ladies that preceded her.
But experts say that this time, Mrs Trump will likely be more deliberate with her approach to the largely undefined role of being America’s First Lady.
Born Melanija Knavs, the 54-year-old Slovenian-American former fashion model eventually traded a glamorous life in the gilded walls of Manhattan’s Trump Tower for the confines of political life that came with the Oval Office, during a presidency that was often mired in controversy.
Described by some as an “enigma”, Mrs Trump has preferred to be less public than her predecessors, giving fewer speeches both in the White House and on the campaign trail.
“She’s been unique among modern first ladies,” said Tammy Vigil, an associate professor of communications at Boston University and author of a book on Michelle Obama and Melania Trump.
“She does things the way she wants to do them, as opposed to the way she has to do them.

I have no idea what her personal ideology is. She was the First Lady and now again and not the president. She is also beautiful with poise and class. The former first ladies of democrat presidents said much politically. Trumps first lady said nothing except to fulfill her role as First Lady. She is a class act.

You are correct. Both Jackie Kennedy and Trumps wife Melania were first ladies first and not political. Both were beautiful and total class as first ladies. Is it not strange we do not know either of their political beliefs? As mentioned above they are ladies of class. Obama's wife Michelle is totally political. She did not grace the White House with class.
Thank God she is our First Lady again, and not “Dr. Jill”, or Mr. Kamala Harris.

It would be awesome for her to focus on “Freedom” while POTUS Trump works his magic while also instilling in our minds how important it is to show up at the polls again in 2026 to deliver a bullet proof Senate and House!!
She is obviously a very beautiful lady, inside and out. We are blessed.
My impression was that last time around, she was focused on protecting her child, and raising him as best she possibly could. With him now a young adult, we can see that her choice was the best one. This time around, her life can expand to include more of a First Lady role, which she appears ready to step into. The media ignored her during her husband’s first term; she was too classy and stunningly beautiful for them to bear. She’s still those things, but I don’t count on her getting the kind of adoration that Michelle and “Dr.” Jill had heaped on them. Melania embodies the best in femininity; those two, the worst. May this be the dawning of a new era in American culture.
Of course the democrats, completely ignoring Hellory, Big Mike and Fauxdoctor Jill, will claim that Melania is too political and should follow the ‘tradition’ of FLOTUS being seen and not heard...while the progressive media again tries to memory hole her by nut publishing interviews and pictures of her.

I hope we see less of Michelle, Hellery, Jill AND Peelousy and more of Melania this time. I really think these vile witches should go hide after the “bloodbath” they experienced Tuesday but they won’t. If Melania was as petty and evil she would be well within her rights to rub their noses in it but she won’t. She has outclassed them in so many ways.......;)
Now that her son is in college, she’ll have more time to be the First Lady.
