Trump says there is 'no price tag' too high for his first priority of mass deportation of illegal migrants

President-elect Donald Trump is showing no signs of backing down on his campaign pledge to order the 'largest deportation effort in American history.'

In a new interview, he is vowing to make the border 'strong and powerful,' and says financial costs – which some immigrant rights groups project could cost hundreds of billions of dollars – will not be an obstacle.

'It's not a question of a price tag. It's not — really, we have no choice,' Trump told NBC News Thursday when asked about his plan. When people have killed and murdered, when drug lords have destroyed countries, and now they're going to go back to those countries because they're not staying here. There is no price tag.'

Trump claimed to have won a 'mandate' with his blowout win in the electoral college and defeat of Kamala Harris in the popular vote, and is taking steps to implement it, announcing campaign chief Susie Wiles will be his White House chief of staff. Among his first priorities will be rescinding President Biden's executive orders that expanded opportunities for migrants to live and work here.

It came after he campaigned heavily on the immigration issue, even featuring grim testimony at his rallies from parents who had children killed by people who weren't in the country legally.
