In 1981, beachgoers at Marina Beach were surprised to spot hang glider Patty Butler soaring through the skies with her pet cat, Puddy.
Originally from New Jersey, Butler, a professional ice skater turned glider, said Puddy was confused at first but soon settled in. "People are pretty amazed," she said. "They don’t notice him until I land."
Butler crafted a custom papoose so Puddy could experience the thrill of flying safely right on her back.
The sight of a cat gliding over the ocean with his owner was enough to make anyone do a double-take, proving that flying isn’t just for the birds!
The cat knew he was safe as long as the humans didn’t do anything stupid 😄
It is a good thing we are so much larger than them...otherwise, we too would be food! (say my two)

(brothers from the same litter...:)

And sometimes...even then!
When I was in first grade I had to take baths in one of those. It was in a corner of the kitchen with a rope strung from wall to wall with quilts clipped on it to give each of us kids a little privacy. Mom had to heat water in a kettle. Oh, all of us boys had to get out of the kitchen all together when our sister was in the tub.
I swear, that is how Kamala Harris told that gaff about washing greens in the bathtub. One of her speech writers must read in one of the "Foxfire Books" about an old timer washing greens in a tub and she assumed it was a modern bathtub.
Curiously, the man who developed the Foxfire Project in his Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School classroom, Eliot Wigginton, in 1992 confessed to and was convicted of child molestation.
Ha! Love it-I had no idea why you brought up the galvanized wash tub, and it was only when I went back and saw the little animated GIF again that I noticed the wash tubs in the background...:)
That is exactly how my mind works these days, and I kind of like it.
I see, hear, or smell something, and it takes me down a path of memory that I had no thought or intention of going down, but the association something has to whatever kicks it off sometimes has so tangential a bearing that people I am with are continuing on the straight road they were on, while I bounce off into the weeds, and I can almost look back over my shoulder and see them looking quizzically at me in a rather tolerant fashion!
In your excellent description, I got that same impression of your thought process. I could visualize it quite well, that little kitchen with the ropes (probably that old laundry line) with the quilts draped over them. And there would likely be steam coming up from the bins as the water was poured in.
Yeah...I can visualize it...:)
But a large part of her problem with it is that we were in the same elementary school in rural Georgia and she doesn't want to revisit anything from way back when.
