Bernstein helped CNN promote the earliest stages of the Russiagate hoax, and Woodward and Dean soon chimed in. Geoff Shepard’s work highlights Ted Kennedy’s role in manipulating the Watergate prosecution and pressuring Dean to support it. Watergate served as a template for Kennedy and his allies in the Democratic Party to go after other political opponents such as Robert Bork, Clarence Thomas, etc. The Republicans borrowed this M.O. against Clinton during Whitewater/Lewinsky (not saying Clinton didn’t deserve prosecution for those scandals, but it was a Watergate-style attack in any case). Hillary recognized this because she had been part of the Watergate team to get Nixon, recruited through her Yale contacts with the Kennedy family. The Clintons wanted revenge against the GOP for Lewinsky, and they took it out on Trump, using a game plan they learned from Ted Kennedy, Biden’s Senate buddy.
