As many experts, such as Deep Throat’s attorney John O’Connor, have posited, the entire Watergate burglary operation seems to have been a purposeful “own goal.”

John O'Connor's 2022 book on Watergate was terrific. He filled in all the gaps and mystery solved.

Basically, Deep Throat gave O'Connor all his notes and papers and said, "Here, you can publish this after I die."
