While I'm not well versed on the valley but I can tell you this. Trump won Starr County by like 16 points. The first time a Republican has won there since 1892.

This county is the most Hispanic country in the country, coming in at 97% Hispanic.

While that's something here is the kicker - the last person to serve as President in 2 non-consecutive terms was Grover Clevland in what year? 1892. So they last voted for a Republican in 1892 the year of Grover Cleveland.

I'm in San Diego. I saw Trump signs everywhere. Very large Latino and Asian populations. They're not woke. A lot of small business owners struggling.

Donald Trump is poised to regain power across America after winning all seven swing states and upping the Republican vote share in all but two states. That shift to the right was also reflected in San Francisco and California, despite both the city and the state giving the majority of their votes to Vice President Kamala Harris.

According to the current count, 10 of California’s 58 counties flipped from blue to red — choosing Joe Biden in 2020 and Trump in 2024. Here are the 10 counties that turned red, starting with the narrowest move right, with around 55% of the votes counted as of Thursday morning.

Orange County gave 49.2% of its vote to Trump and 48.2% to Harris, making it one of only two coastal counties in California that went red (the other being Del Norte County on the Oregon border), if the current lead holds. Once a Republican stronghold, which Ronald Reagan called “the place where good Republicans go before they die,” Orange County gave the majority of its votes to Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020 but now appears to have shifted back to the right.

Interesting that some of the Blue counties in 2020 that remained Blue in 2024 are now a lighter shade of blue, and some of the Red counties in 2020 that remained Red are now a deeper shade of red.

Could a few more counties shifting red (and staying red) make a significant difference in making California better governed? I know L.A. and the Bay Area are a lost cause.

The race in California's 47th Congressional District is between Democrat Dave Min and Republican Scott Baugh. The race is for an open seat. The seat is currently held by a Democrat.

Baugh currently leads with 50.1 to 49.9

Those counties on the Texas Mexican border have been impacted the most by illegal immigration. Those counties are Hispanic and legal Hispanics majorities. They have voted democrat for many years. It has impacted them in the extreme. They voted Republican. They are pissed off about what illegal immigration has done to them.

Not entirely. In L.A, Soros-backed DA George Gascon lost by 23 points. Also, Soros-backed Alameda County DA Pamela Price was recalled, as was "progressive" Oakland mayor Sheng Thao. Good riddance to all three.
