Before we get into the Top 5, I decided to post about a dozen songs that I thought deserved some mention here for one reason or another. Some of these just missed making the cut for the Top 50. Others aren't necessarily close to the Top 50 but show up among the most frequently played songs on various preset playlists of mine.

And a couple I just wanted to post here for the sake of posting them here. LOL.

"Broken Arrow" by Robbie Robertson ... Click Here ... original version of a song that may be better remembered from the Rod Stewart version; it's the background music for the epic closing scene of the underrated movie Beyond the Law, starring Charlie Sheen.

"You And Tequila" by Kenny Chesney ... Click Here... a rare modern country song that has stood the test of time for me; and the original music video of this one features a number of scenes where I think Kenny Chesney bears a striking resemblance to a young Bruce Willis. LOL.

"Running On Empty" by Jackson Browne ... Click Here ... another one that has grown better over time as I've gotten older and it resonates with me more today; it's also a great song for an open road on a long trip.

"We Just Disagree" by Dave Mason ... Click Here ... this is a fairly recent addition to my iTunes collection; heard it on the radio while traveling for work earlier this year, and it brought back a flood of memories from my childhood in the 1970s when this was a popular tune on the radio.

"Wrapped" by George Strait ... Click Here ... I honestly thought this one would make the Top 50, as it seems I am listening to it all the time; a nice, upbeat tune and one of the defining steel guitar tracks in country music.

"Mother" by Pink Floyd ... Click Here ... this is the first song that comes to mind when I think of Pink Floyd; nice, easy pace and an awesome guitar solo define this one.

"Back 2 Good" by Matchbox 20 ... Click Here ... something about this melancholy song kind of defines the 1990s for me, but I don't know why.

"Melissa" by The Allman Brothers Band ... Click Here ... this one came close to being the third Allman Brothers song on the Top 50 list; one of the best companions for a late night on an open road.

"Rockies Turn Rose" by Ian Tyson ... Click Here ... likely an obscure tune for most folks, this one brings me right back to my days in Calgary, Alberta; the imagery at the linked video perfectly illustrates the phenomenon of the rose-colored tinge of the Canadian Rockies as the sun rises in the east during the winter months.

"Life In A Northern Town" by Dream Academy ...Click Here ... a melancholy song from the 1980s that reflects on the decline of heavy industry in Great Britain during the post-WW2 era; the original video linked here contains some great clips showing the parallel decline of the steel industry in the Midlands of England and in the Pittsburgh area of Pennsylvania.

"The Ecstasy Of Gold" from the soundtrack of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly ... Click Here ... just a majestic instrumental track that has been covered by heavy metal bands and world-class orchestras over the years.

"Winning" by Santana ... Click Here ... not close to my Top 50 and not particularly noteworthy except I will always remember it as the soundtrack of three dates in my life: (1) the night back in 1997 when my hockey team won our first league championship, (2) November 8th of 2016, and (3) November 5th of 2024. #WINNING.
