The president-elect's team plans to force Kiev to suspend its NATO aspirations, sources have told the outlet
Donald Trump's team is considering several potential plans to end the Ukraine conflict, which would require Kiev to drop its plans to join NATO in the foreseeable future and freeze hostilities along the current front line, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing sources.
According to officials and aides familiar with the situation, the Trump team does not yet have a detailed plan, with different factions "set to compete to influence the Republican's foreign policy." Such "traditionally minded" Trump allies as Mike Pompeo, who served as secretary of state and CIA director during the president-elect's first term, are reportedly pushing for a deal that "doesn't appear to give a major win to Moscow."
Other figures, such as Richard Grenell, who could become Trump's national security adviser, may advocate for ending the conflict as soon as possible, even if Kiev has to make significant concessions, the article said.
However, according to the WSJ, peace proposals "uniformly recommend freezing the war in place... and forcing Ukraine to temporarily suspend its quest to join" NATO. Three unnamed officials inside Trump's transition office told the paper that one idea is to have Ukraine pledge not to join NATO "for at least 20 years," while in exchange, the US would provide Kiev with ample weapons deliveries to keep Russia at bay.
The reported plan would also establish a demilitarized zone along the current front line, with one Trump adviser ruling out the possibility that peace there would be maintained by American troops or US-funded international organizations such as the UN. Under this proposal, the US would seek to delegate this task to its European allies, according to the WSJ.

More of the same BS. Unamed sources isn't good enough.
If names can't be given then no trust should be given to the reporting.
Surely this is why Putlim imported his cadre of Nvorks — to put them on a new DMZ lofl!
BS story. If you don’t have names it’s a crap story.
Vance has been talking about the frozen conflict strategy for over 9 months.
Ukraine and the World were unable to push back effectively on Russia.
This is the current reality. Zeepers had their time and money already invested in giving Zelensky and Biden tens of millions.
Hunter even served on a Ukrainian company board.
Zeepers got everything they cared about from this fiasco.
Frozen conflict = Putin lost.
So Trump plans to stab Ukraine in the back? Israel next?
The Israeli IAF has done a great service to the US and the rest of the world by destroying much of Iran's missile and drone production capacity.
Russia was relying heavily on this Iranian missile and drone production to supply the Russian military in Ukraine which is already putting pressure on Russia to end the war in Ukraine.
So Russia is in a worse negotiatingn position than they were a few days ago.
The Ukrainian peace agreement will probably look a lot like the original one that Biden and Boris Johnson convinced Zelensky to walk away from right at the start of this catastrophe.
An autonomous Donbas region for ethnic Russians as a “buffer zone” ,, a demilitarized, neutral Ukraine and a commitment for the Ukraine to not join NATO - ie the general term of the Minsk accords agreed upon some 35 years ago.
Perhaps a recognition that Crimea is officially a part of Russia in return for a Russian withdrawal from the Ukraine.
Trump will (rightly) blame the Biden Administration weakness and Biden's breaking of international agreements and inviting the Russians to invade for starting the war in the first place and the Trump Administrations efforts to stop the war as a sign of American strength.
Biden is the one who stabbed Ukraine in the back.
I explained this on the spam thread. These ‘ideas’ are NOT coming from Trump’s people (at least not his inner core, as they understand Russian concerns about ‘trusting’ the West), but rather the CURRENT Administration, who are trying to project a ‘solution’ that gets them off the hook for their horrific war.
Russia, wants a COMPREHENSIVE conclusion to the war (as they have said over and over), and that means new borders, international recognition of those borders, and a way to ensure Ukraine never enters NATO, which the West simply cannot provide, given their track record. It will take a neutral third party, maybe China or India to essentially occupy what’s left of Ukraine to ensure peace, or Russia will likely go right to the Polish border, and then work out a deal with Europe to partition Ukraine.
Biden gave Russia the ‘high sign’ and allowed the Invasion of Ukraine. That allowed the USA and EU to punish Russia. Now here we are with another giant resource war (oil and wheat) that needs to be shut down.
All these ‘reports’ are just the chicken-hawks sending up smoke signals.
I have a better idea. Trump invites Putin and Zelensky to the white house with their financial advisors. Trump announces that his intention is unless everyone goes back to the original borders before the war he will reduce the price of a barrel of oil from the current $71 a barrel to $30 a barrel.
He should excuse himself for 20 minutes to get himself two scoops of ice cream then return. Guarantee by the time he returns to the meeting, the war will be over.
The democrats with Biden are working to preventing Trump from ending giving Ukraine more money along with many other issues.
Just another F/U sign to the American people.
Tell President Trump to drop Pompeo from any short lists.
Tell President Trump: No to Pompeo!
Tell the President-Elect: No Pompeo no matter what.
The Wall Street Journal has no idea who trumps team is. This is the day after the election and nobody has been permanently or openly put on trumps war team. This is just baloney and a big example of how the media tries to manipulate situations and peoples opinions.
Let Trump be Trump, and when he gets ready to get his team for war, they will, end this mess the best way possible without any help from the Wall Street Journal. We’re sick of this.
