Russia is facing a "butter armageddon" as prices for the staple food product continue to rise sharply.
By the end of October, prices for dairy products in Russia had risen by an astonishing 25.7% compared to December 2023.
The steep hike in cost has led to a spate of thefts from shops around the country, forcing management to keep the product under lock and key.
Images have circulated on social media, showing butter locked in fridges and signs telling customers to contact staff if they want to buy some.
A CCTV video posted online also allegedly shows a Russian man stealing 25 packets of butter from a Pyaterochka supermarket in Moscow.
When confronted by a shop assistant, a fight breaks out as the man tries to make a run for it.

“Very good summary of the war on the ground.
How long will it before that reality sets in for the Zeepers here?”
Depends on how much they are following what’s going on, and who they follow. Except for the diehards and paid agents, who will simply disappear at some point. Russia is adding 25,000 troops a month, and they are volunteering, unlike the Ukraine conscription/desertion situation. Russia has more troops than when the conflict started and has just begun to fight a “war” rather than a limited “special military action”. Putin sees the opening and going to drive right through it. He will have his buffer, and it will be as large as he likes.
The real reason Russia imported 10,000 North Koreans is to have something to eat.
“The real reason Russia imported 10,000 North Koreans is to have something to eat.”
The hysterical part is the training of the Koreans. They have been taught that they never retreat. Russians are having problems trying to teach them that the Russian use of tactical advances and retreats is not cowardice.
They’ve stolen more than butter here since inflation hit the U.S.
Still at it I see, labeling people who are against repeatedly sending billions of unaccounted-for taxpayer dollars to Ukraine, just like the good little fascist you are.
