About a week after they made waves for their style at the Sweat Tour, Malia and Sasha Obama once again put their fashion chops to the test by attending Billie Eilish’s star-studded Halloween party in Hollywood.
Joining fellow famous guests like Kaia Gerber and Kiernan Shipka, the Obama sisters delivered two stylish looks that channeled this year’s rising western trend, a fad that has also been espoused by the likes of Beyoncé and Bella Hadid.
A 23-year-old Sasha looked striking in a bright blue baby tee and beige micro shorts, layered underneath a rusty maroon cardigan and a massive black leather long coat. For a cowgirl touch, she added a dark brown leather belt with an oversize circular gold buckle, slouchy brown leather boots, and a studded red leather shoulder bag.
In particular, Malia has began to flaunt more of her personal sense of style in the public spotlight. For example, while presenting her short film The Heart at the 50th annual Deauville American Film Festival in September, Malia walked the red carpet in a statement-making ensemble that consisted of a tartan off-the-shoulder corset, an asymmetrical checkered skirt, and black knee-high leather boots.
As for the elder Obama sister, 26-year-old Malia had an on-the-nose approach to her Wild West outfit, including a woven black leather cowboy hat and a stuffed snake that she wore wrapped around her neck like a scarf. She completed her look with a plain white tank top, a denim miniskirt, skintight black leather over-the-knee boots, and a black leather shoulder bag.

My kids mug for the camera like that often. I tease them about it, but it has nothing to do with how ‘classy’ they are. It’s harmless fun. Hell, we did it at their age too, we just didn’t have thousands of pictures.
A giant miss as far as Western attire goes.
I grew up riding horses, working cows and living the western lifestyle. What these two hoochies are wearing is nothing you would have ever seen any of us wear. Not in a million years. We also didn’t play with snakes (especially the two legged variety), we avoided them.
At least these adoptees haven’t been “wished to the cornfield” after they’re usefulness as political props came to an end.
