HOUSTON – Judging by his accolades, Vincent Grayson was a standup guy and a good coach. He was the head basketball coach at a Houston public high school in the state’s largest school district. Earlier this year he was nominated for High School Coach of the Year at the Houston Sports Awards. He led the team to their first-ever UIL state tournament in 2023.
Now he’s accused of being the ‘kingpin’ in a teacher cheating scandal that brought in more than a million dollars over four years and put more than 210 uncertified teachers in schools throughout the state. Two of those teachers were sexual predators.
Grayson, 57, had worked at Booker T. Washington High School for 22 years and was making $4,500 a month when he was abruptly fired Monday after investigators identified him as the ringleader.
Here’s how the cheating scheme worked
Investigators laid out this scheme:
The coach had a setup where teachers who’d failed their certification tests or were afraid they couldn’t pass, would pay him $2,500.
*Grayson would tell them exactly when to come to one of two testing centers where test proctors took money from Grayson to allow the cheating.
*Teachers showed up on the appointed day, showed ID, signed in, and then left.
*A few minutes later, the assistant principal at Grayson’s school would sit in their seats and take the test for them. He took more than 430 tests for teachers.
* An assistant principal from another school helped recruit and refer candidates to Grayson. She took $1,000 from each for them to have access to Grayson.

You need to see this
Holy bleep.
And this went on for years...
THAT should backfire on the TEACHER’S UNION, also.
Oh this story is still making the news rounds! CNN was talking about it two hours ago

BTTT
Just reading the story was stunning and enraging.
What a racket! Over 420 unqualified teachers paid about $2500. went back home, and had an assistant principal take the test for them. Several additional school administrators got a piece of each $2500. cheat fee paid. From mid 2020 until Feb of this year.
All ethnic groups have a certain percentage of rotten people, but this only feeds the stereotype or the narrative that most so called professional blacks are either dishonest, unqualified or both.
Substitute takers then to substitute teachers, this has been going on for years with some public knowledge since the seventies, not all, but too many. The students weren’t done any favors. Some school districts have zero students reading at grade level today in 2024.
I fail to see the problem here. The teacher who can pass the test can’t teach either.
Thank liz
Some of my greatest joys in life have come from reading, or being able to analyze the thoughts of others.
If someone leaves high school and continues to be a poor reading, that can hold you back from so many things.
Not all, but much.
Having your school set you up, knowing you are underqualifed, but were passed anyway just as a matter of Social Inclusion, or some such nonsense, brings a deep sense of anger and betrayal once you realize your lack of proper training.
“Some of my greatest joys in life have come from reading, or being able to analyze the thoughts of others.”
Which proves some kids ought to be left behind. Left behind until they can read and do cursive writing.
Now, I’m thinking about Rachel Jeantel, that young lady from the Trayvon Martin murder trial, the girl who sat on the witness stand and admitted in front of God and everybody that she didn’t use and could not even read cursive writing.
Black minds matter.
Until black teachers don’t do their jobs.
Then it’s systemic racism, and we need to pay black experts to tell us how to do it right.
If their methods don’t work, then it’s deeply entrenched, intractable systemic racism, and we need to put them in charge.
If their leadership doesn’t work, then whiteness is evil.
Whoops. Hey Yogi, it’s one of them again.
“What a racket! Over 420 unqualified teachers paid about $2500. went back home, and had an assistant principal”
Well, at least the assistant principal was qualified in his school, as that means there are more qualified personnel at his school than most in the US.
And educrats claim parents are not qualified to teach their own children because they’re not *professional* educators.
“Now, I’m thinking about Rachel Jeantel,”
Somewhere I learned more about Rachel Jeantel. She was in the special ed class while in school. She had some kind of learning disability or something that required her to be there. I’m not sure if that is why she never learned to do cursive writing or it was not taught to her.
When she was on the stand and she said she “could not read cursive writing” I was thinking she could not read at all judging by the way she looked at the words on the page. Even people who can’t do cursive writing can read it. At least we could in grade school.
