HOUSTON – Judging by his accolades, Vincent Grayson was a standup guy and a good coach. He was the head basketball coach at a Houston public high school in the state’s largest school district. Earlier this year he was nominated for High School Coach of the Year at the Houston Sports Awards. He led the team to their first-ever UIL state tournament in 2023.
Now he’s accused of being the ‘kingpin’ in a teacher cheating scandal that brought in more than a million dollars over four years and put more than 210 uncertified teachers in schools throughout the state. Two of those teachers were sexual predators.
Grayson, 57, had worked at Booker T. Washington High School for 22 years and was making $4,500 a month when he was abruptly fired Monday after investigators identified him as the ringleader.
Here’s how the cheating scheme worked
Investigators laid out this scheme:
The coach had a setup where teachers who’d failed their certification tests or were afraid they couldn’t pass, would pay him $2,500.
*Grayson would tell them exactly when to come to one of two testing centers where test proctors took money from Grayson to allow the cheating.
*Teachers showed up on the appointed day, showed ID, signed in, and then left.
*A few minutes later, the assistant principal at Grayson’s school would sit in their seats and take the test for them. He took more than 430 tests for teachers.
* An assistant principal from another school helped recruit and refer candidates to Grayson. She took $1,000 from each for them to have access to Grayson.

Well, we all have our own disabilities in particular situations, me included. But her statement at the time didn’t really help her credibility. Even the famous stockbroker Charles Schwab said he was dyslexic when younger but excelled at math. Lucky him.
Yes, Bobo, it is another one of obama’s people. Is it just me or does there seem to be a common thread here with them and crime and gaming the system? What could it be? What could be the linkage? Hmmmm, inquiring minds want to know.
Look at the Diddy crap...one color is the majority....
went through this testing process in Texas 20 years ago. Teachers are required to pass two “standardized-like”, 70-100 question, 4-5 hour time limit tests. One test is subject/grade test. The other is the “pedagogy” (how to be a teacher) test.
Subject/grade test is pretty straight-forward. The pedagogy test is one of those multiple right answer (find the “best” one). The right answer is the one that espouses the latest teaching fad.
The subject/grade test I passed (High School Math) and new I passed before I turned in my test.
The pedagogy test I walked out not knowing if I missed all 90 questions or got them all right - what a beating! To my surprise I was correct on 87 of 90.
My district required successful completion of the “teaching ESL students” state certification. It was similar to the pedagogy test. Lucky for me - same results.
I would be interested to know which of these tests were scammed. I fear the majority were basic elementary teachers...

Here’s how the cheating scheme worked in criminal terms:
<><>Grayson pocketed $2500 from sub-par teachers
<><>teachers who’d failed or feared they couldn’t pass certification tests were targeted
<><>Grayson had them come to one of two testing centers
<><>test proctors were bribed by Grayson to allow cheating.
<><>the cheating teachers showed up, flashed ID, signed in, then left.
<><>an assistant principal at Grayson’s school took the test for the cheats more than 430 times.
<><>Grayson colluded w/ an assistant principal elsewhere to recruit and refer candidates to him.
<><>She pocketed $1,000 to facilitate access to Grayson.
“Teacher tests are racist tough.”
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Kamala says she is for equity, which she herself defines as equality of outcome. Some people get a boost since not everyone starts in the same place. I’m sorry the Trump campaign did not make more of an issue out of her saying this, but they had so many issues to deal with.
