Tech Titan Elon Musk Ignites Social Media Storm Over Peanut the Squirrel’s Death at Hands of New York Government

Elon Musk expressed outrage on his social media platform X Saturday over news that rescue pet and internet sensation Peanut the Squirrel was seized from his owner’s home and euthanized by state officials in New York.

The SpaceX and Tesla founder fired off a barrage of posts expressing his disdain for officials with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation taking the Instagram-famous Peanut, along with another rescue animal, away from owner Mark Longo’s home and animal sanctuary near the Pennsylvania border. The state then inexplicable euthanized the docile and trained animals so they could be “tested for rabies.”

“… It is not beyond the scope of reason to test the animal for rabies…”

Squirrels don’t carry rabies.

To lighten up this thread...we had a Springer Spaniel.

She was super smart and very sneaky—and a total chow hound.

One day my wife had a bunch of errands to run so she put the dog in the car and off she went....

Last stop—the grocery store.

She parked far away from the store, opened the car door, and the springer spaniel made an amazing escape...

and ran full speed through the parking lot and followed somebody though the electronic entry door...

and before the springer was done she had bit three store employees that were trying to stop her from grabbing food.

Sentence: Ten days in the pound for the springer.

She lived many happy years with us after that—but no more errands in the car.

Lol.

Love it. And you didn’t have to kill her just to determine if she’s infected.

It’s not about any squirrel. It’s to remind you that you could be that next squirrel.

And I hope Elon foots the bill for the attorneys.

And they need to sue that scary mannish thug personally, as well as the government organization.

No, sir.

Pigs, dirty rotten pigs serve a beneficial economic purpose; New York government does not.

“The state then inexplicable euthanized the docile and trained animals so they could be “tested for rabies.””

Am I wrong for saying we need to do the same to some state employees?

That squirrel didn’t have rabies. He would not have bitten anymore if he wasn’t frightened out of his skin.

RFK, Jr has become involved in supporting P’nut. He responded to Elon.

I haven’t read article, yet, but whoever absconded with the squirrel said it bit one of them. I demand to see the bite!

I don’t think for a second that the squirrel had rabies (besides the fact that it is extremely rare for squirrel’s to have rabies)...but, if there’s an accusation of a bite, the requirement is quarantine and you can often or always do it at home. These people that took this little squirrel and killed it are cruel beyond belief and they damn sure better pay the price.

A roll of C-notes could get those results over night.

From the way they’ve been acting it appears that both Harris and Walz have rabies. Shouldn’t the state of NY test them the same way?

Animals are good for people. People with animals are usually happier…

So says someone who never had squirrels invade his attic.

I saw a video just a bit ago on this and found out that Squirels do carry Rabies, and they can test without killing the animals.

And They asked to get bitten. Have you ever tried to grab and hold on to a cat that only wants to get away.

It’s never been known that a squirrel transmitted rabies to a human.

Also, prophylactic treatment for rabies is now much different than it was long ago. It’s not much different now than getting a few flu shots.
