She took a Vicodin pill and was astonished at not just how good she felt after taking it but also the energy it gave her to do mundane household things, such as cleaning the house when she got home after a long day.

I used to have a Vicodin prescription that I would use for major pain. I never felt "good" after taking it unless you mean that the little men working the cross-saw on my shoulder joined a union and started slacking off. Lack of pain GOOD.

As for energy it just made me want to sleep.

More and more I am coming to the conclusion that addicts are perhaps physically different from non-addicts.

Because I have been on some very powerful stuff and it just takes the pain away and makes me (a) tell the person who gave me the shot that I love them and (b) take a nap.

Me too, I take pain pills and I go to sleep, no pain in my sleep. I have reactions to all medicines like this. I went to the Eye DR, she dilated my eyes, and the were dilated until bedtime from 11 AM.
