Got her start as a dancer in several Elvis movies.

That could’ve been a cool spinoff.

Yes, but unfortunately Robert Lansing had a history of quitting shows after about two seasons.

I despise that movie. I really liked “Close Encounters”, though.

She showed up in so many genres of movies. Loved her character in Close Encounters as Ronnie, wife of Roy Neary.

I remember I had just gotten my first job and a car and I took my mother to see this movie in the theater. My dad wasn’t one to go out to see a movie in a theater unless it was something like Patton (which he took me to see when I was in the 3rd grade) or a John Wayne movie.

We had such a great time and I took her to a Chinese restaurant afterwards, something my dad would never do.

Thanks for those kind words.

I grew up in a family of 4 boys and no girls....so being Mr Mom of two little girls was quite the adventure.

I must say, they did an amazing job raising me and inspired me to finish my BS/MBA, the latter earning National Academic Honors with a 4.0GPA.

That’s great...:)

My brother who had two boys said there was too much drama in a house of all girls!

She really exploded the TV screen as Roberta Lincoln in “Gary 7...Star Trek OS series. There was a good chemistry with Robert Lansing. Too bad they never got a real pilot show off the ground...the episode itself was a test pilot of sorts which was generally well received but NBC was never gonna go for it. Just as well for Miss Garr as she did well as a movie star. Her talent was almost too big for TV as was Robert Lansing’s...though I read he really liked the Gary 7 role...secret agent from space with cool gadgets including a snippy stuck up female talking computer with an oriental English accent, and a jealous girl friend shape shifter who liked being a black cat! What’s not to like!! Might have given the Bond character a run for its money!

I think this episode really set her up for good things. When you can hold your own as a young actress up against Lansing, you’ve got major talent!

Thanks for those kind words - much appreciated.

My wife was literally “the girl next door” and I discovered time doesn’t heal all wounds.

C’est la vie...

I grew up in the greatest time - late 60’s/early to mid 70’s. My sister and I reminisce how our lives were like a non-ending episode of survivor- no bike helmets, no seatbelts, no swimming lessons, climbing trees all day long, drinking from the garden hoses, playing freeze tag and hide and seek until it was time to come inside to have dinner as a family. Mom was a stay-at-home mother while dad worked to keep food on the table and a roof over our heads, to keep us in Catholic school and to take vacations to see our grandparents and go to an amusement park each summer.

We grew up in a time where there were such good movies with such good actors - now all there is are ‘celebrities’ and mostly subpar movies with absolutely NO excitement for their release - none to look forward to seeing. I remember spending Saturdays at the movies - mom gave us a dollar each which bought us a matinee ticke to several classic movies, a small drink and a box of Lemon Drops or Milk Duds.
