Kalitta Air Transport? Gummint contractor? Operating from a “closed” AFB? I guess I have to put them on my “keep an eye” list? That has the sound of the old CIA Air America during the Veetnam years. It was home ported in McMinnville, OR as Evergreen Aviation, now mostly inactive but home of the Spruce Goose. They faded when the major owner, Del Webb, passed on some years ago. In the later years they disguised it as an air museum with a collection of nice old war birds. I guess they had to do something with the cash?
Most of the birds have since been moved to Madras, OR where they have a nice, super dry, home.
MonkeyWerx keeps an eye on them for his “SITREP” youtube vlog.
He’s a very informative fellow.
The Kalitta family also runs a top notch Top Fuel dragster team with Doug Kalitta as their driver.
