My Grandmother’s husband married her after many years as a single military man. He admitted that he had to really work to clean up his language when he came out of the service and worked in the government as a civilian. (And that was over a hundred years ago!)

I always tell the story about how I got out of Boot Camp and came home on leave just in time for Thanksgiving! Still had the Boot Camp stubble on my head
We had about 15 people there, extended family, and I was telling a story about Boot Camp when I realized everyone was staring fixedly at me with frozen looks on their face, and I realized, without even realizing it, as naturally as breathing, that I had just said, in a loud voice, clearly and distinctly, the “F” word!
I had never even said that word in front of my parents before!
