Sure. There are good people. And there are bad people. The big difference between then and now is a lot of the stuff that was considered “good” then was EVIL.
It’s not subtle shading. It’s the fact that when you look at those old movies and TV shows you WILL see spousal abuse. And you will see it presented as a joke. One of the first running gag lines in the history of TV, “to the moon Alice”, is a threat of violence against his wife. That’s abuse. That’s NOT treating women better than today.
Good means treating women with respect and protecting them from all kinds of harm.
I don’t think the Honeymooners, or any other comedy, would be a good example.
Go back and watch the old cowboy tv shows, like the Rifleman or the Big Valley. The difference between good behavior and bad behavior is showcased. It’s obvious. (With the exception of alcohol use.)
In these shows, the normal way men treat women is with respect and an attitude of protection.
The bad behavior is done by the riff raff and criminal types, the cowards.
