Both were cited but after the judge saw the driver’s dash cam the driver’s was dropped as it should be.

Now the driver has contacted a civil lawyer on youtube who played this and the police cam video after the driver asked for it to be released.

I’m hoping the the driver can sue the guy somehow. The youtube lawyer said the cop did not do his job and charge the bycyclist with false imprisonment. He said that it probably had a lot to do with that being a “rich” area and this guy was a millionare and this was just a 21 year old. He did suggest to let this and the police cam go viral, make the politicians take notice.

Thanks. I thougtht about false imprisonment or kidnapping (depending on how the local law reads) too. If the guy is a millionaire it might be worth suing. On the other hand, a million dollars isn’t what it used to be.

The 22 year old should sue on principle. That guy was a jerk and said “he had more rights” well he does not.

I saw the dashcam, that 22 year old drove better than a lot of kids his age and I’m impressed.

Like a lot here I’m sick of these spandex nazis acting like they do own the road. A lawsuit on his butt would mean no more expensive bikes and spandex in the future.

here is the police cam by the way

Pedestrians and bicyclists always have the right of way teenagers shouldn’t be allowed to drive until they are 25 by that time they just may have some brains and be out of childhood.

I’ve been hit 3 times by a dumb ass teenagers two lost their license for a year.

Yeah, spandex wearing road Nazis think they own the roads.

Paris France is the absolute worst when it comes to people on bikes, scooters, and motorcycles.

The Netherlands does it right, but it’s very difficult to transition to what they have.

"The Netherlands does it right, but it’s very difficult to transition to what they have."

Especially the part about NO hills. Half of Holland is within one meter of sea level. Amsterdam is mostly BELOW sea level. That means single-speed bicycles are usually adequate. Also reduces the stress on brakes. Both make bikes cheaper to build and easier to maintain.

Plus a small country, you could bicycle between cities in a relatively short period of time.

Of course the only issue is in Winter when it snows.

In my state, inviting yourself into somebody’s car and then manhandling them is assault...

Do the math on what happens next.

Going from Amsterdam to Eindhoven or Nijmegen is roughly an hour and a half by car.... Not exactly an easy trek by bike. Hell Groesbeek is about 30 min from Nijmegen by car, and Groesbeek is hilly.

Sure, and many Dutch do drive such distances 🙂, the good bicycle path network, which crisscrosses the entire country, notwithstanding.

But the railroad network in the Netherlands is indeed very good, and usually you can take your bicycle into the trains with you. At off-peak times, that is.

If you cannot or don’t like to bring your own, there are bikes for rent available at most Dutch train stations🙂

I heard somewhere that the average Dutch person has a bicycle stolen twice a year.

I‘m not sure whether it’s that bad, but, as you imply correctly, yes, bicycle theft is a serious issue in the Netherlands. Sadly. 🙁

I bet it wasn’t that bad before certain demographics moved in.

P.S.: unfortunately, bicycle theft had existed before, but at a fraction of what it is now…still, even in the 1950s, there were some seedy neighborhoods where you better didn’t leave your brand new bike unattended.

But they were few and far between. 🙁

But it generates a lot of economic activity, just like govt spending.
