This is odd. When I try to copy urls to repost the url disappears. Instead I am provided with a statement that SAYS SEARCH OR TYPE URL. This is occurring on X, YOUTUBE,
and other media. This is new. Not with FR.

copy some plain text first then copy the URL, maybe some junk in the buffer?

Actually instead of my BRAVE shield on the right side of the url bar it switches to one of those black and white reader things the moment I touch the url bar ant then comes the sign in the URL that says SEARCH...

Just rebooted
Went to YouTube and tried to copy a Roy Orbeson url.
Failed

Just went to Google store. The Oct 16 update broke the url bar. Update coming this week.
I guess I will need to find a different browser to surf with this week.

Choose a text editor for your computing device.
Windows OS: editpad lite / editpad pro
Mac OS: BBEdit
Keep a plain text file open - using the text editor of choice.
When you copy text, paste it to that text file window. So you can see/verify what you copied (versus the “keeping your fingers crossed” method).
When you click in a field of a webpage online, and you see the cursor blinking in that field -— meaning that you know that you selected that field -— then copy the URL address from your text file window . . . and click again on that field that you selected . . . and paste to that field.
So, you are copying the clean text, the character string, instead of other “meta” “formatting” hidden data, etc. that the website may not want pasted.

Heh, related question.
My default browser is Brave
YouTube wants me to sign in. They are suggesting I use my Google account?
Any workaround to this sign in nonsense
To: Chickensoup
What I do is copy the url and paste it into Notepad, then copy that and paste it in your application of choice.

I have been using
FreeTube for years. Works perfectly, and no sign-in to YouTube needed.
It scrapes the vids, subscriptions, and comments from YouTube, and as a bonus, no ads..
And... it doesn't give YouTube any hits (
😸).
