The Los Angeles man convicted of shooting and killing a 15-year-old in Long Beach in 2022 was reportedly sentenced to 16 years in prison.
Simmons was in discussions to buy Cardenas’ iPhone when Simmons suddenly tried to run with the device, prompting Cardenas to open fire at the fleeing teen.
The jury decided that Cardenas was provoked into shooting and reduced the original murder charge to manslaughter.

I wish I were on that jury. When someone says,” he didn’t deserve to be killed for stealing an iPhone,” I say, yes, he did.
I would say one shared by a good 50% of the people on the planet.

Would depend on a number of factors. Seen some pets and children that I was tempted to take from the people who were obviously not valuing them.
He decided that his life was worth risking to take the guys out of date electronic toy.
