I don’t see what advantage a man would have over a women in pool.
Correct
Reach?
Men have stronger hands and longer reach. Women can take out men at lower levels of play because they have finesse and planning as their advantages. At the upper tiers of play, there’s a skill gap where the men are picking up on the finesse plays and learning to plan better, while women’s arms and hands can’t change much. I learned better control and strategy from playing against women than men (well, when I could keep my damned mind on the game), but better power plays and tactics from men. That might just have been a player thing, but it seemed accurate to say at the time.
There are four times as many male professional pool players than female, so the competition is less stiff?
Like professional golf. One in over 300 men who try out get on the PGA tour; 1 in 30 women get onto the LPGA.
If it’s anything like shooting sports, women are often naturals. Many make excellent snipers. Both my daughter and my wife became excellent shots very quickly when I trained them. Other guys I know had the same experience with their ladies.
