As a lifelong Cowboys fan, I’m disgusted with the ineptitude with which Jones runs this team. He wasted a Pro Bowl QB in Tony Romo who should have won 2 Super Bowls. He is wasting a good QB in Dak.
His idiotic spending made it impossible for him to work in the offseason through free agency-—not that he has shown himself competent to do so anyway. For the good of the organization, both he and Stephen, who is no better, should step aside and get a real football-understanding GM.

Jerry lost me when he extended that thug Ezekiel Elliot’s contract after he screwed the team over with his suspension.
And then, he brings him back, after it’s clear he’s washed up.

Pretty bad day in DFW. The silence at the coffee and eggs place I frequent was thick this am.

Not that I want to give good advice to the Cowboys, but I were GM, I would not put up with the short-sighted stars who want to be the highest paid all the time. That is a vanity that no team can afford in the salary cap era. Pittsburgh, the Belichick era Patriots, and Pittsburgh all let guys go when they cost too much. The SMART stars (e.g. Brady, Mahomes, Stafford) don't need to be top paid, if the money goes to the o-line or a good wr/te (Brady walked only after the money was NOT going to those positions). Replace Prescott (harder now) with someone who isn't so self-centered, or at least sees the value in giving up some drama and $$$ to help the team that protects him.
Dallas has several advantages to be leveraged by management. Dallas is a team with world-wide recognizability. If you are a star on the Dallas Cowboys, you can spend your retirement doing commercials for beer (think Tony Romo), insurance companies, and when you are an old man, Blue Emu relief cream.
Texas has no state income tax. Facilities are top notch. The state has world class cities and nearby room for a ranch, if you want that.
Salary caps don't apply to coaches. Hire a Belichick-level coach (if not Belichick himself), pay the coordinators that are worth it near head coach money, and let them do their job. Pilfer a GM from a winning organization.
Allow same to jettison expensive flotsam and give them two years to get out of salary cap hell.

With a decent defense, Romo would definitely have won a couple of Super Bowls. Dak was NOT a good QB yesterday. Poor decisions, poor execution.

Yep. When Zeke got his bloated contract, he instantly became non-productive (and Jones brought him back?!). Who got the big contracts this year? Dak and CeeDee. I see a pattern.

An EXCELLENT example: This season when POWERHOUSE LEAGUE LEADING running back, Derrick Henry, became AVAILABLE through free-Agency, the Cowboys simply said we DON'T have the MONEY and CAN'T AFFORD him.
If I'm not mistaken Henry is , once again, this season one of the TOP RUSHERS and DIFFERENCE MAKERS now for the Baltimore Ravens.

For all of their problems, they have drafted pretty well. The Boys have a lot better players than my Patriots. Years and years of piss poor drafting have left the cupboard bare in NE.
