Lane Thomas’ aggressive approach at the plate paid off again for the Cleveland Guardians in Game 5 of the ALDS on Saturday.

On the first pitch he saw from Detroit Tigers starter Tarik Skubal in the bottom of the fifth inning, Thomas blasted a grand slam to help the Guardians to a 7-3 victory and advance to the ALCS.

"He threw one pitch over the middle and I put a good swing on it. It's as simple as that," Thomas said afterward. "I don't know how many scoreless innings he threw [in the series], it just takes one."

Guardians. Why does that bring up a mental picture of middle aged men in diapers?

Major League Baseball really wants one of the woke teams to win in order to justify their name change.

So many fans walked away from the team when the wokies renamed it "Guardians".

Maybe Taylor Swift's next boyfriend will be a Guardians player.

The name brings to my mind a fictional football team in a poorly written novel. “Guardians” sounds like a placeholder name the author inserted until he could come up with an awesome name. He forgot to replace it before it was published.

I haven’t followed baseball in a while. When I read the headline, I was like, who the heck are the Guardians?

The optimal scenario would be to have Yankees suckers fans watch the high-advertisement games but the woke flavor of the year win it.

In this case, since the Cleveland Guardindians and the Yankees are both in the same league, so the league championship series is the highest advertisement and gambling series the two can meet in.

The last time Cleveland won the World Series was in 1948. They have won twice, 1920 and 1948, and both times they beat the Dodgers.

I'm hoping that the World Series is Cleveland against the Mets, mostly because that mean the Yankees and the Dodgers won't be in it. A Yankees vs. Dodgers series would be the 12th time those two teams met in the World Series. Boring.

Is a Subway series on the table? I haven’t been following. Can’t deal with the advertising. Still wounded by cardboard fans. God I miss the last millenium.
