A lot of the “rising cost” has to do with population shifts INTO “natural disaster prone areas, and increased population within a set of connected zip codes, like supply trying to meet demand, increases the total insured risk in that area, and that has a role in increasing the cost of premiums.
In fact increased populations in any area has some increased costs with it in some way, in most cases.
Ronald Reagan’s Secretary of the Interior, James Watt, tried to rein in wild building on the barrier islands through the reasonable means of limiting, or eliminating, subsidized flood insurance fore new construction. He was pilloried by the media for using reason to resolve a problem instead of building a massive and expensive federal bureaucracy.
Climate change is real.
Man caused climate change is a lie.
Lighten up Tony. Geez. Is this the only job you could find?
That sounds about right. It’s happening now, 50 years later. Insurance companies are refusing to write policies. Some people have enough money to self-insure. They’ll be the ONLY people living on barrier islands in 20 years.
What a dumbass...
Yo E,
You’re killing me with the NYT propaganda disguised as news.
It seems you’re on a roll.
But it’s October during an election year, meaning that Old Gray B**ch is gonna make sure every thing that’s ‘fit to print’ leans left (after all, what choice do that have).
Perhaps there’s real news from real news sources out there?
just my $0.02
We’ve already pumped billions into it so the activists can play with the penguins.
I live in FL and I’ll be the first one to say don’t let the rich keep rebuilding on barrier island and jack up the raters for all of us.
For the 2021-2030 decade we have another 5 (officially): Ida (2021, Ian (2022), Idalia (2023) and Helene and Milton this year.
With those added to the chart we get a statistically flat chart even though there's a drop since the 30's and 40's.
Rush Limbaugh spent most of his shows discussing content from NYT, WaPo, LAT, etc. I miss Rush's insight and get bored reading things I agree with all the time, so I post articles that Rush probably would have discussed. If you don’t like them, don’t click on them. Lots of people are interested in them, judging from the number of comments the articles get.
Thanks for explaining why you post these articles.
You’re 100% correct, I believe - Rush would definitely discuss these types of articles and used his Morning Updates to great effect.
Too much paving over Mother Nature with concrete - where do they think water will go when natural drainage is destroyed?? In your house!!
It would not surprise me in the least to find out they at least screw with it in some way just so they can have an example to say “See?? Climate change!!”
word.
Wow! Guess we should give many billions left to illegal immigrants.
Very good. So that confirms the overall trend of the chart. Flat.
Oh yeah? Well i still miss Rush too - and yet hated when his 2nd segment started with CNN clips.
But if you hadn’t noticed, your NYT takes were sucking the air out of the (freeper) room - i. e. I had no where else to click.
Lol.
Then maybe you should post some articles that you do like. I miss the days when you could come to FR every hour or so and there would be a hundred new threads to read. I am just doing my part. Are you doing yours?
