Indeed.

Thank you The Atlantic for stepping out from behond the curtain and showing us what we long suspected; Secretly the left really wants communism and an end to our constitution.
I can’t read the actual article entirely because it has a pay wall but I found it and it does indeed exist:
https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2024/10/hurricane-milton-conspiracies-misinformation/680221/
They're not all that secretive about it.
“Secretly the left really wants communism and an end to our constitution.”
~~~
They’re not all that secretive about it.
Agree.
Not anymore, anyway. They used to be ‘secretive’ ... now, they’re quite blatant about their sinister plans.
Talk about saying the quiet part out loud!
Musk has recently been hinting about Epstein client list.
(We shall see)….
You have to ask yourself why they are no longer secretive about it.
It would seem like self-sabotage but for two things;
1) Audience.
I can’t remember who I heard say this, but basically The Atlantic’s audience is the rest of the MSM and “the beltway” leftists. Even though they are published publicly, they don’t speak directly to average Americans. They give direction to the rest of the left.
2) The widening division.
This one is even more scary to think about. The reason this country is so divided is because many democrats are continuously being radicalized farther and farther to the left. There was once a time that this stuff never ever would have played to blue dog and blue collar democrats. Not anymore.
“Free speech is a disaster”
“Free market doesn’t work”
The words of Communists, Fascists, tyrannical socialists are unmistakably obvious. The ‘author’ needs to move to Venezuela, and quit trying to bring Venezuela here.
THAT .... would be glorious.
“free speech is an unmitigated disaster”.
Spoken like a true dictator.
The Arbiters of "Misinformation"
In the current environment of assault on free speech coming from the government, elites and big tech, I would argue that there needs to be a federal law that anyone or anything qualifying as ‘mass media’ - save for politics, for reasons I’m not elaborating here, but ought to be obvious - should be required to posit the opposing viewpoint in a non-demeaning manner among such proselytizing.
Such a law would obviously be ripe with debate and I concede that all the answers are not in this comment.
Specifically, I’m referencing tech algorithms which feed users’ biases and addictions and keep them insulated in their echo chambers via very effective gaslighting, but I’m also referencing platforms such as the atlantic.
The left - and the government - has successfully redefined ‘news’ and that poison has infected all manner of information publication (including ‘science’). It is rare to see a balanced viewpoint. Even posted here most of what we see reinforce our own biases. I would not have a problem of seeing a daily smattering of reminder as to why I’m Conservative in frequent posts, as opposed to having to rely on the few of us who post pieces wholly ‘from the dark side’ such as this tripe.
This atlantic article is representative of said echo chamber gaslighting for the left, solely intended to influence the intellectually vulnerable and reinforce the left’s biases (coupled with selling their totalitarian proposals).
It is not free speech which is the weapon, but the cudgel wielded against it masquerading as a righteous movement.
The true danger of the online environment we face as a modern society is he who wields the most influence feeds the true pandemic...
...and my take on it is that we are losing, slowly but surely.
Isn’t that basically “The Fairness Doctrine”?
Not sure it’s actually communism they want. As much as an oligarchy /3 class feudal system.
As long as THEY are somewhere at the top.
although,communism or feudalism is in reality a oligarchy.
there oughta be a law...
no
education is the answer
and we wont have that until there is free choice in education
“ that poison has infected all manner of information publication (including ‘science’)”
So sadly true. I remember when the great Watson of DNA fame was fired from his position at Cold Springs Harbor University for musing about possible connections between heredity and intelligence.
That was when I started realizing even science wasn’t sacrosanct from woke ideology.
Heh. Perhaps, as a quick search revealed. In fact, the matter has NEVER been codified, merely a tool of the bureaucratic state.
I will concede that I ignored ‘news’ about new proposals using such language, likely due to poison pill terms and sources of said ‘news’ in the past. Yes, I’m thoroughly ignorant on the topic of modern debate of ‘fairness doctrine’.
But the fact is that leftists overwhelmingly oppose such discussion and that alone merits a renewed debate.
The ONLY reason we have Musk’s ‘X’ today is because he chose to wield his resources to bring fairness - defined obviously; I’m not getting into it - back to online discourse while DJT remains under full assault by the government. Musk may be next (likely).
This is a battle for the hearts & minds of the youth - and now the foreign illegals invading our cities with government support - and, again, it is a battle I see us losing.
The proof will be the outcome on Nov 5th.
In contrast to a regional newspaper of the 19th century, the power of a ‘click’ is rather incredible. I do believe that the largest influencers should be regulated in that respect (but not globally, as in right down to the level of this or other forums). Google is but one example of the powerful who should be regulated (there are MANY, including the alphabet networks).
Again, ripe for debate. IMHO
