In the current environment of assault on free speech coming from the government, elites and big tech, I would argue that there needs to be a federal law that anyone or anything qualifying as ‘mass media’ - save for politics, for reasons I’m not elaborating here, but ought to be obvious - should be required to posit the opposing viewpoint in a non-demeaning manner among such proselytizing.

Such a law would obviously be ripe with debate and I concede that all the answers are not in this comment.

Specifically, I’m referencing tech algorithms which feed users’ biases and addictions and keep them insulated in their echo chambers via very effective gaslighting, but I’m also referencing platforms such as the atlantic.

The left - and the government - has successfully redefined ‘news’ and that poison has infected all manner of information publication (including ‘science’). It is rare to see a balanced viewpoint. Even posted here most of what we see reinforce our own biases. I would not have a problem of seeing a daily smattering of reminder as to why I’m Conservative in frequent posts, as opposed to having to rely on the few of us who post pieces wholly ‘from the dark side’ such as this tripe.

This atlantic article is representative of said echo chamber gaslighting for the left, solely intended to influence the intellectually vulnerable and reinforce the left’s biases (coupled with selling their totalitarian proposals).

It is not free speech which is the weapon, but the cudgel wielded against it masquerading as a righteous movement.

The true danger of the online environment we face as a modern society is he who wields the most influence feeds the true pandemic...

...and my take on it is that we are losing, slowly but surely.

Isn’t that basically “The Fairness Doctrine”?

“ that poison has infected all manner of information publication (including ‘science’)”

So sadly true. I remember when the great Watson of DNA fame was fired from his position at Cold Springs Harbor University for musing about possible connections between heredity and intelligence.

That was when I started realizing even science wasn’t sacrosanct from woke ideology.
