Today in 1954, David Lee Roth was born, making him 70. Although David Lee Roth has enjoyed success as a solo artist, he is best known for his work as lead singer for Van Halen. Nicknamed “Diamond Dave,” Roth was a member of Van Halen from 1974 to 1985, in 1996, and from 2006 to 2020, when the band disbanded. The apex of Roth’s time with Van Halen came in 1984, when they released the album 1984 — their most critically praised and commercially successful album — that features such hits as “Jump,” “Panama,” “Hot For Teacher,” and “I’ll Wait.” In 2007, Van Halen were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Sammy Hagar was a better singer. David Lee Roth was a better front man. The dynamic between Dave and Eddie Van Halen created much more interesting music.
Have you ever listened to a full interview with him? He’s actually extremely intelligent.
David Lee Roth is a better showman, Sammy Hagar is a better musician. Roth was great when MTV came along with the videos! Roth, right place, right time.

yes, but I was talking about spiritual things. Like who is God? Thanks.
Heart David Lee Roth, he’s my only rock & roll crush!
“...the first to marry a movie star...”
Heart Valerie too, but she’s really a TV star. Very annoyed they dumped her from the kids baking show on Food Network!
So he was your Ice Cream Man
