Apply that lesson to humans and we’d really have something.
You get more of what you subsidize, and less of what you tax.
When Key Biscayne State Park was leveled by Hurricane Andrew in 1992, people in the neighboring condominium bought bags of dogfood for the raccoons that showed up by the hundreds. They looked much thinner than those in the picture. A lady visiting the area couldn’t believe they really were raccoons.
Probably safer and more likely to make it thru the winter because of your caring. Deeply grateful that kind people like you are there to care about the animals.
Come on you feel lucky well do ya.
You can’t fix stupid.
Next up… this jerk will be attracting wild boar
I lived in the general area, when Racoons showed up I simply shot them. Someone called the cops, I showed them my .22, and the shotshells I use.
I laugh every time I see that graphic.
I know, raccoons and chipmunks are vermin, and I shoot chipmunks when I can in my yard because they’re destroying it, but it’s hard not to admire their industriousness and their beautiful sleek bodies.
But my gardening wife won’t put up with them, which means… I can’t put up with them. Besides, I know I’m gonna break my ankle due to damage the chipmunks have done digging under the yard.
Fortunately, I don’t see much in the way of raccoons, although I saw my first one just a few nights ago… That’s about 37 years and I haven’t seen one so I guess I should be thankful for that.
Agree but raccoons are as funny as cats had one at 10 it got mean as it grew released it into the woods must have went mate hunting came back at times looking for a hand out.
People are idiots when it comes to wildlife.
They’re not Disney characters.
It was most obvious at a local metro park where I was golfing. Must have seen at least 10 coons throughout the course, wandering aimlessly.
That's what they need to do in Washington state to take care of a problem like this.
A number of years ago I met a guy who used to trap them at an area north of Detroit where professional pest control companies used to release them.
He would then kill them, throw them in a freezer and then on Sundays, take them to the Great Lakes Crossing where a furrier used to park and purchase the hides or dead coons from guys like the one I talked to. The furrier actually preferred the whole carcass since he would skin them himself.
The guy I spoke with said he would get approx. $25 and more per coon, depending on the quality if its pelt.
“We trapped and relocated the ‘coons.”
Rabies is spread this way. That’s why it’s illegal in many states.
“How are there this many of you?”

A few months ago my son and I were coming home from work late night and I saw movement ahead and it was a group of about 10 raccoons, single file, crossing the road. I couldn’t believe how many of them, but they were followed by about 10 more, also single file, going across the road.
