Bridget Mire, a spokesperson with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, said by email that under state law it is illegal to feed large carnivores, such as bears or cougars. While municipalities or counties may have local statutes forbidding the feeding of other wildlife, it is currently not against state law to do so, she said.

Hey, Lady? I raise Treeing Walker Coon Hounds. One or two of them would take care of your SELF-INFLICTED PROBLEM with hours. ;)

She told deputies she started feeding a family of raccoons decades ago and it was fine until about six weeks earlier, when the number showing up went from a handful to around 100
I think I understand the problem.
Nothing a few boxes of 22LF will not take care of.

I fear Mutant Racoons.

She told deputies she started feeding a family of raccoons decades ago... Hmm...I think I see the problem here.

Could also be a business opportunity. Lemon aid out of lemons, know whumsayin'?

Isn’t it obvious? It was raccoons telling other raccoons.

And as a side note, this is why I was always against giving free cell phone service to wild animals.

I think you can draw a parallel between this and illegals entering the country. Feed a few and soon you’re overwhelmed.

Those are some lovely looking pelts; they all look VERY healthy.
Too bad raccoon is not paying much these days; I think in our state (WI) Muskrat pays the most.
Fur trading is definitely down since the Salad Days of Marquette and Joliet, LOL!

You had me at ‘Bourbon Glaze!’
I make an awesome ‘Coon and Kraut’ in the crock pot. Raccoon also makes amazing BBQ Sandwiches. :)

We had one 2 or 3 raccoons threatening the three feral kittens that mama feral cat brought to our doorstep, and who camped out on our screen porch. They’d eat the cats’ food, and sleep in the cozy little house with heated floor we made for the cats. One got really mean, so we adopted the cats and brought them inside.
We trapped and relocated the ‘coons. We heard they always return, but they didn’t.

We had occasional raccoons come to our deck and raid the mealworm feeder for the bluebirds. I’ve since added red pepper flakes every time I refill it. Problem solved.
