Seems like everything today is wrong and a big deal.
Isn’t that what they’re for?
He wasn’t the same after that head hit.
As usual, the headline is misleading. The issue wasn’t using smelling salts, it was letting him continue to play after getting knocked out (not due to a hit by the defender but hitting his head on the artificial concrete (turf)).
WNFL
Vet stadium in Philly was a career killer. Heard the stadium in NY and Arizona are pretty bad too.
There are several videos on Youtube and TT that show Jack Lambert, Butkus, Csonka, Alex Karras, Ted Hendricks, Ronnie Lott and others dealing out pain these modern guys can only imagine. Some are painful to watch.
Smelling salts are passed around like candy on NFL and NHL sidelines. Its players clearing their sinuses, and getting amped-up to play.
Claiming he was given it for a concussion is silly.
Being knocked unconscious would be enough for me to take the rest of the day off
If he were a boxer he wouldn’t have been allowed to continue.
I think the problem isn’t the smelling salts so much as the finishing the game. If you get knocked you’re almost certainly concussed. If you want to claim to care about player health in general and concussions in particular needing smelling salts should be the end of that player’s day.
Oh no!!! They let them hit the QB.
Preludin injection would have been my personal choice frankly
Was his last, unforgiveable series of missed throws to lose the game a result of his concussion?
They should issue smelling salts to every moron that pays the big buck to watch brain damaged knuckleheads knock the crap out of each other because it’s the only skill they came out of “college” with.
As long as they don’t use bath salts...
