Madonna is mourning the loss of her younger brother, Christopher Ciccone. Ciccone, an artist and interior designer, passed away "peacefully" on Friday, Oct. 4, with his husband, Ray Thacker, "faithfully by his side" following a battle with cancer, a representative confirmed to USA TODAY. He was 63
Paying tribute to her late brother in an emotional Instagram post onSunday, Madonna called Ciccone "the closest human to me for so long." Reflecting on their close bond, the superstar said "it grew out of an understanding that we were different and society was going to give us a hard time for not following the status quo." She also shared that the art of dance "was a kind of superglue that held us together," and not only "saved" both herself and her brother, but also was he reason why they both moved to New York City early into her career. Ciccone served as a backup dancer for Madonna and worked as the creative director on many of her tours, including her 1990 Blond Ambition world tour, and choreographed the music video for her 1982 song "Everybody."

I lost my sister three years ago.
She was a screaming lib. We would argue about that stuff all the time. Since the early 1970’s and I was barely a teenager.
But she was still my sister and I loved her. I miss her to this day. Madonna is allowed to feel that way about her brother.
I’m sorry, Madonna. Losing a very close brother is life changing.

Her older brother did become homeless in his later years.
She did try to help him out, several times and in several ways. For his last 5 to 7 years,he had refused any help from Madonna and other family members. It sounds like he didn’t want to make any effort towards recovery.
Is he the guy who was living under the highway in Michigan a few years ago, who Madonna wouldn’t even acknowledge?

Clearly a very messed up family. Brother was probably molested by the dad or some adult male in his life. Madonna probably was too.

I realize it is the nature of pop culture to idolize people for nothing more than entertainment celebrity-ism, but after a while it seems offensive to the thousands of good, normal people that die every day. I’d bet that to a LOT of liberals his death is more consequential than the deaths hundreds of good people in NC.
