Verizon changing from messages+ to google messages (vanity)

Posted on 10/05/2024 7:14:30 AM PDT by Glennb51

As of 110724, Verizon is shutting down messages+. They recommend Google messages.

Does anyone have a better recommendation? I do not use google for mail, or anything else.

Thanks in advance

Great question. I just realized all my text messages are sent and received over Google. Or Gulagle or whatever their name is.

Well, if it is an Android phone, Google can access pretty much anything anyway. So it’s not like you are giving up any privacy by letting them read your texts. There’s a Facebook alternative if you would like to have them read the messages. Then there is that foreign one, Telegram, that is operated out of a Muslim country and was created by Russians.

I ended up just going with Google. I’ve downloaded it but not activated it yet.

Does this affect how people send text messages if you have Verizon?
