In April of 2024, I posted You’re on you own: what to do about it. The point of that article was we really are on our own. Government is not able to protect us, and when government wrongs us, it’s going to move heaven and earth to avoid paying for that harm.
Yes, this means when we need them most, the police aren’t going to be there, and when we don’t want them at all, they just might, particularly if they’re the FBI. More about this shortly.
In the world of reality most Americans occupy, there are very few police officers. True even in places where they haven’t been defunded and are expected and allowed to do their jobs. Even if you manage to call 911, it’s going to take longer than you have for the police to respond. Better yet, the police have no legal obligation to protect anyone, and you can’t sue them and win when they don’t.

What happens in that civilized society when the FBI raids the wrong home?
Before the sun rose over Atlanta one morning, Trina Martin, her seven-year-old son Gabe, and her partner Toi Cliatt were jolted awake by the sound of a flashbang grenade exploding in their living room. Toi, fearing that the home was being robbed, pulled Trina into the bedroom closet and reached for his legally owned shotgun. Just as he was about to grab it, an FBI agent barged in, threw him to the ground, and began interrogating him and Trina. All the while, Gabe was separated from his mother as officers stormed into his bedroom with guns drawn.
When Toi told the agents his address, it dawned on them that they had raided the wrong house. The FBI had a warrant—for a house with a different address

It seems to me that SWAT raids have gotten far too common, some even done for political purposes.
By personal injury and such...I’d say it’s worth $250,000 in pain and suffering, just for the adult. Kid? Maybe $100,000 of pain and suffering.
No knock raids should be illegal.
They meant to raid the 80 year old PTA lady next door.
FBI can’t read must be all the DEI

The penalty should be the firing of the raid team leader..................
Does there seem to be a lot more “wrong house raids” lately? Almost seems like a lot of them are intentional to me. JMO.
Penalty should be charges of Assault with a Deadly Weapon for all involved.
Headline should have a word added: “Again”
And every last person involved in the raid should be in PRISON for a Minimum of 20 Years, I DON’T CARE, They are Thugs and committed FELONY STUPID and shou;ld never be allowed in civilized society again.
Concur, and if this was the penalty, it would never happen again.
Easy problem to solve. Trouble is, someone doesn’t want it solved. And that someone is in charge right now.
Dear FBI reading is fun& & vital in law enforcement and !life ingeneral.
I have sent a message to the Cato Institute asking them what happened to the map.
Alternatively another "F" word and/or "B" word can be substituted.
You cook up a BS warrant, and then “accidentally” raid the wrong address. Can’t prove it happened, or is intended, but wouldn’t be surprised if it happened.
You can get street level views of a lot of places via Google maps these days, you’d figure that the address of the place to raid and warrant would at least be visually verified before execution of a warrant. I don’t GAF how well or underfunded an law enforcement agency is, crap like this shouldn’t be happening, especially not when the raid is planned in advance.
About 30 years ago our house was raided by the King County Swat Team. I was at work; my wife was at home alone recovering from foot surgery. She looked out the window when she heard loud banging at our front door. She saw men dressed in black carrying rifles running all around our yard.
When she hobbled downstairs and opened the door they were hitting it with a battering ram. She was held up against a wall with multiple guns pointed in her face. They ran all around the house making a mess and terrorizing our wiener dog and threatening to kill them.
We never received any type of reasonable explanation of why or how it happened. We were never accused of or investigated for any crime that we are aware of. It was a bizarre demonstration of complete incompetence. After it happened, those responsible went into a secretive trying to protect themselves from being held responsible for their screw up mode.
