Something I forgot to add in my initial comment was that people often like to see their own statement quoted, and so I try to make a habit of grabbing an interesting bit of their comment and posting it so that they can have a bit of pride that someone else thought it was noteworthy. Also I think it helps other people get a better inkling what particular thing is being discussed.
Quoting people makes them happier, (I think) and helps others understand the conversation better.
I'm not directing this specifically at you, I just took the opportunity of your comment to mention it.

Many times the crux of an issue is hidden within that bit of their comment rather than in the whole of it.
I try to grab an interesting bit of [a FReeper’s] comment... so that they can be proud someone else thought it was noteworthy... It helps other people get a better inkling what particular [issue] is being discussed.
