In his first public statement on the lawsuit, Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon told Daily Wire news podcast “Morning Wire” that one of the new California laws especially targets satirists, such as the writers at his company, “by requiring them to put disclaimers to let you know that this is parody that you’re reading right now – which completely stifles and kills the joke.”

The childish horror of being offended by a meme. The left is totally insane.

I’m pretty sure when the Bee interviewed Elon Musk and told him twitter had banned them because they refused to recant on naming “Rachel” Levine as Man of the Year that set in motion him buying twitter.

Politicians *spit* and government officials *hock ptooey * are exactly the people for whom the 1st Amendment guarantees the right of the People to slap them around with words and satire.

“EXCLUSIVE: Babylon Bee Sues California Over Unprecedented Crackdown On Satire, Parody”
When you read a headline as in the above, two things should come to mind:
1. Has there EVER been a similar attempt by Conservatives to shut down speech that made fun of them?
2. If not, then just which side is the ‘threat to Democracy’?

Again showing the left has no sense of humor.

Newsom defended the state’s new laws, saying they focus on AI-generated content that could “undermine the public’s trust through disinformation.” But buried in one of the new laws is a requirement for satire and parody content to either be clearly labeled or removed. Isn't that strange that satire and parody would undermine the public's trust.
That is exactly the purpose of satire and parody. People satire and parody politicians that are not deserving of the public trust.

I suppose Orwell’s “Animal Farm” should be banned in California as well.

Political satire has been the backbone of political free speech since the invention of the Gutenberg press.

Perfect example of a 1A violation. Maybe they should jail politicians for lying. That’s “misinformation” too.

Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a series of “free speech” laws.
If the government won’t do it do it state by state the democrats in action.

"Newsom tweeted that a parody video of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris should be 'illegal.' 'The legislature heard the call and passed two laws that forbid political expression under the label of ‘materially deceptive content,’' the lawsuit asserts."
Anyone who could not recognize that as parody is not competent to vote in an election, let alone hold office.
