Ditched Jan Smithers for Babs — WTF anyhow?

Watch until the end.

“I reached into the closet to find my cleanest dirty shirt’”

I could never come up with a line like that, much less set it to music.

Some are just talented.
88 not a bad run

That vid of the BB&tHC at Monterey is one of my annual or so go-tos. It’s been over 50 years since the performance. Gurley is (imho) the marble model for psychedelic guitar. He died in Detroit a few years back. Oh, wow, it was 2009! Oh, and it was in California. WTH. Oh, that’s right, he was BORN in Detroit.

My favorite singer songwriter is the late Guy Clark. He put it this way:

The key to a great lyric is to convey as much information as possible, in as few words as possible.

That line from Kris does that.

The beautiful, short-lived relationship between Janis Joplin and Kris Kristofferson

https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/janis-joplin-and-kris-kristofferson-relationship/

Kris Kristofferson first met Janis Joplin through their mutual friend and folk singer Bobby Neuwirth in the spring of 1970. At the suggestion of Neuwirth, after they played a show together in New York, Kristofferson accompanied him on a flight to Larkspur, California, to the home of Janis Joplin. What was intended to be a short trip ended up lasting several weeks, and whilst staying at her residence, Kristofferson and Joplin became increasingly drawn to each other.

That song contains a lyric that is likely the most perfectly written segment expressing human regret.

“I’d trade all of my tomorrows for a single yesterday”

If you never saw “Millennium” with him and Cheryl Ladd, you should - it was a very interesting movie.

**I wouldn’t worry too much about a wonderful singer songwriter’s opinion on foreign policy.**
What’s wrong with “Shut up and sing?”

**There isn’t much music left if they all have to be vetted as moral, drug free, and solid conservatives.**
What’s wrong with military music?
