My grandfather used to tell me stories about his father and Johnny and their adventures the hard cider they made.
I was pretty young and thought that jonny appleseed was a make believe character like paul bunyon.
I remember it was in an high school american history class when the teacher said something about him and I realized that no only was he real, but my great grandfather lived in the same county in Indiana as he did.
I wish I had paid more attention to my grandfathers “tall tales” but he was already dead
He lived here in Pittsburgh at one point, which was considered the “frontier,” before going to the wilderness of Ohio and Indiana ;)
