“You may be better off because you made wisechoices and got an education as have your children but you cannot tell me that overall prices and costs of living today here in 2024 are better than they were before Biden took over ~ 4 years ago.”

Prices have gone up. I don’t disagree with you there but my disposable income has increased more, almost doubled, so there’s a net gain.I don’t stay up late anymore trying to figure out how to manage the bills.

I guess my point is that there are always going to be outliers in the equation/question. But the overall situation is that the economy as a whole is much worse in terms of prices/costs than it was before Biden.

True, everyone’s situation is different but I’m also unaware of anyone in my small town, other then substance abusers, who are struggling. The businesses involved in the trades are begging for workers. The local shipyard is begging for workers. Grocery stores, hardware stores and the like all have Help Wanted signs up.

Nobody is out in the streets protesting in my town about their lot, either. But that don’t mean everything is dandy, either.

My little town still has the concrete duplex public housing built by LBJs Great Society - and there’s a constant waiting list for them. We have one family hardware store and a big box DIY, grocery stores, service businesses, etc. Yes, they advertise for employees all the time - pay is in the $10/hour range and there’s a lot of turnover because it’s damned near more profitable to be on welfare with EITC, Section 8, SNAP, AFDC and TANF.

There ARE areas in this country where things are very bright - DC and environs adjacent are BOOMING, living off the droppings of the Fed. Others? Yep...places where the MIC industry lives or other big industry union work is.

The bottom line is that prices and costs are effectively worse across the board than 4 years ago regardless of one’s ability to pay them.
