My memories from a war long long ago where remains of fallen hero’s were transported back to our homeland and either released to relatives or remained at a secure facility until they were released. Many corpses didn’t have dog tags or other physical forms of identification and were still kept in a secured vault. I have no first hand knowledge of the final disposition but I feel safe in assuming that none were sold for medical disection at a university biology lab.
