Inside the island fortress of America's mega-billionaires (Florida)

As my boat cruises toward the private island city of Indian Creek Village — better known as the Billionaire Bunker — I'm hoping my trip doesn't end in an arrest.

It's a hot morning on South Florida's Biscayne Bay, and I've convinced two local tour boat captains to pilot me around the perimeter of what is quite possibly the wealthiest and most heavily defended town in America. I'm not entirely clear on the rules about boating near the island, which lies just across the bay from Miami, and neither are my captains — they're both in their first weeks on the job. What I do know is that Indian Creek employs a new all-seeing security system and a small navy of police officers who frequently stop and ticket boats that venture too close to the island's manicured shore.

As we near the northwestern side of the island, I spot the bright red steel beams of "La Petite Clef," the Mark di Suvero sculpture that towers 20 feet over the front lawn of the car magnate Norman Braman's mansion. We glide past a modern palace hidden behind a dense cluster of palm trees, purchased for $50 million in 2019 by a mysterious LLC linked to the emir of Qatar. On the southwestern shore, we come upon the island's most sought-after mansions. This is where the elite of the elite live: Tom Brady, Carl Icahn, and the neighborhood's most recent arrival, Jeff Bezos. The wealth here is staggering — 25,000-square-foot mansions with ivy-strewn stucco walls, fronted by sprawling lawns and sleek yachts. Today, almost all the mansions appear to be empty.

If Kamala Harass could confiscate all of their wealth, she could pay off the national debt and it could be a sanctuary/fantasy island. /s

“ Today, almost all the mansions appear to be empty.”

This sounds like an ideal place to send thousands of false asylum claimants allowed into our country by the Biden/Harris administration. To quote Kamala, these billionaires would only be doing their “fair share”.

Do you wish for such wealth?
Each of these Billionaires will soon be dead, then what?

1 Timothy 6:9
But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition

Litter their manicured shores with those worthless tickets.

Big whoop. Most of these folks leave their houses empty most of the time so I’d want big security too.

If it bothers you, maybe go down there and see if you can get their police force violate your constitutional rights and sue them - talk about deep pockets!

Nevertheless, this is good intel for CW2 as this island would likely be a viable target.

“... More wealth leads to more workers — and every worker is a potential threat”

They’re catching on - that’s my Number 1 security threat.

What I always tell people regarding home security is that the less people you require in your home, for any reason, the safer you’ll be. Perhaps that 55 year old plumber who has run his own outfit for 30 years is a safe bet, but what of his 19 assistant? And, sure, the 19 year old may be well-screened (to the extent that’s even possible), but what about his ‘friends’, the people he grew up with?

Bottom line, if you can replace a faucet - best to do it yourself (or have someone personally close to you do it).

I have several wonderful 19-year-old young men that work for me here at my remote bugout location in rural TN. They grew up poor, but have more integrity in their little fingers than most adults. When they pull out and inspect my food preps I caution them to treat it carefully, as I'm preparing for them as well. And they do bring their friends, and their friends are also obviously trustworthy as well.

And, did I mention strong? These young men are strong as horses. They grew up doing MMA fighting, which they take most seriously, in one-anothers' back yards. I've seen them effortlessly vault over walls that would put a ninja to shame.

I'm old, with poor vision and waning physical skills. I doubt I could defend this property without my small army of powerful young friends and workers. But what I can easily do is put away tons more emergency preps for myself and them.

And don't even get me started about my amazing Mexican-American workers, who have renovated this 100-year-old property from stem to stern over the past year. These also are decent, hard-working people with strong values.

And then there are the wonderful Mennonites, who've done all the concrete work here ...

If there's anyone I would be concerned about it would be the city folks that I left behind after 35 years.

NOT EVEN CLOSE. You are spreading typical CLASS WARFARE Dem talking points.

Stop spreading lies like this. A thousand Billion is one Trillion. We are spending 2 1/2 Trillion more in one year than we take in taxes.

Even if the government confiscated the wealth of the top 100 billionaires it would not even cover the spending difference of 2.5 TRILLION for one year. Much less the 36 Trillion we are in the whole.

I think I read that “security was a main concern of residents” multiple times, yet these are the same people who oppose the border wall and security for the rest of us.

Although I am a capitalist, I am concerned with the massive political influence that these mega billionaires have, I prefer one person one vote and a limit on campaign contributions. When Zucker et al can throw 400 MILLION at campaigns, it’s an uneven playing field.

You are wrong - confiscation the wealth of the top 1000 billionaires would only be 1 trillion dollars. You would need 37,000 billionaires (not that many in USA) to address the (acknowledged national debt - not including the unpaid liabilities like pensions). Can’t be done on the wealth of the rich. BUT -— what if we had a flat consumption tax of 5%. Everyone buys stuff - rich or poor, criminal or citizen. We could easily manage the debt and pay for stuff we need.

For the average person, a 5% add on to local and state taxes would mean you are taxed (in my case in Texas) 13.9% of every dollar spent (8.9 cents state and local tax for a metro city plus the 5 cents federal.) Of course, much higher in liberal spendy urban areas like NYC. If I spent my entire annual salary of 160K I’d pay $8,000 per year in state, local, fed taxes - much lower than the $32K (with many deductions) I pay now.

Instead of putting the tax burden on the middle class - everyone pays the same when they spend. Rich pay more cause they spend more, poor pay less, but now pay something, and the middle class gets the biggest tax break in history.

A thousand Billion is one Trillion.

True, true.

I had thought about this and in my view, the low information voter doesn’t really comprehend the amount of money in a trillion dollars.

I wonder if Trump and the GOP would start by referring to a trillion dollars as a million million dollars?

Hypothetical example: “Joe Biden and Kamala Harris want to give one million million dollars every year to illegal aliens tax free. Do you think that is a good idea?”

These people have a better grasp of a million dollars, so a million of those may give them a better mind picture of a trillion dollars.
