The Sopranos 10 Best Episodes Ranked
Men'sjournal ^ | 09/25/2024 | Griff Griffin

The Sopranos debuted in 1999 and quickly became appointment TV. David Chase’s most-see crime drama follows New Jersey mob boss Tony Soprano as he runs his illegal enterprise (or, as he calls it, ‘waste management business’) and juggles his family commitments.

Now, thanks to video on demand, you no longer have to make an appointment. With all six seasons currently available on Max and Hulu, here are the ten best episodes of The Sopranos to watch right now. Although, to be honest, all 86 episodes are unmissable.

Amazing show and an example of what can be made.

No doubt the best show ever put out, writing, casting, superb storylines.

The Wire is a close second.

I’d say the entire 6th season is my favorite, all of it.

“Employee of the Month (Season 3, Episode 4)”

Yeah, that one was a hell of an episode. Not only does Dr Melfi toy with the idea of turning Tony loose on her rapist, one must assume that most of the audience was rooting for such an outcome. It’s to Chase’s credit that he refuses to throw that bone of the audience. In doing so, perhaps he forces the viewers to ask themselves some uncomfortable questions about why they like the show.

Pine Barrens for me.

Paulie ‘Walnuts’ Gualtieri : [turning to Christopher] You’re not gonna believe this. He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. The guy was an interior decorator.

Christopher Moltisanti : His house looked like s___.

My favorite scene is Tony at the table with Janice

“I was disappointed she didn’t tell him”

Exactly. I imagine most viewers felt that way, and that’s pretty much what’s so brilliant about it.

'The Sopranos' was a comedy disguised as a soap opera.

For example, there was an episode where Tony Soprano beat up a guy and stapled his chest. Tony then proceeded to wipe the staple gun and drop it on the ground as though it was a real gun and an actual hit.

Ever notice when Paulie did a hit, usually something goes wrong, like the Poison Ivy.

My favorite show ever was The Shield—a total adrenaline rush from the shocking first episode all the way to the stunning final season.

I never watched the show. I did watch the Mad TV skits and have watched clips in the last few years on YouTube. It's a comedy.

"Peeps? It's a !@#$%ing nickname. The family name is Peparelli."

~"They're going to redo it. !@#$%ing Jason - he's dyslexic."

"What's that got to do with it?"

"What?"
"What?"

~"Nothing."

"No, What!?!?

~"You don't wanna know, okay. Trust me."

"No, What?"

~"I heard the nurse say you made numbah two in your pants. Is that what happened?"

While I saw the show, I never thought it was anything that special, just another show about the Mob, but more local than others. Good actors but I just never saw it was some diamond deal.

I actually like Wiseguy better and the characters of Sonny Steelgrave and Mel Proffit.
