Michael Oldfield’s Tubular Bells!
I first heard it about 1975, a little after David Bowie’s Diamond Dog Tour.
The group BOSTON was huge then.
I’d go with Spirit in the Sky also. Not just a gimmicky “hit”, but a very good song period.
More of a “College Radio” hit here in the US, but the only song by them I know of....
Happy Hour Again - The Housemartins

King Fu Fighting - by Carl Douglas, released in 1974.
Wasn’t the phrase “let me go, let me go” used in some TV episode of “I love Lucy” or some other sitcom during the late 50’s? . I recall that phrase somewhere...
Kingsmen - louie Louie?
Whole bunch of ‘em.
Played wipe out and Louie Louie in the mid 60s. Lots of garage bands did.
Hot Smoke and Sassafras...probably one of the best unknown hard rock song of the 60’s..
there were many... but always dug the groups who have an imagination with their music... especially the ones who have horns in the back ground!!
@ 129 great group. Have a pandoria station named from that song. Though their song Summertime may disqualify them from being a one hit wonder.

Key Largo by Bernie Somebody
My first choice also!
I love these threads - I’m gonna Spotify all the songs posted and relive some good ‘ol days.
In terms of radio charting songs, I would think Another Brick in the Wall and Learning to Fly would be on that list, at a minimum.
@153 - yep. I do like this singing of it from Rush Hour - grin!

Brandy
Seriously, is there any competition to this song?
Take Me Breath Away, by Berlin
Is that the Irish version of Take My Breath Away?
Oh! I missed that. Maybe the subtitle should be “Ask any Leprechaun!”
