Exactly.
Somehow the corporations pawned duties off on the consumer for free. And we pay for it with our time sans compensation. Grounds for lawsuit if you ask me. Truly forgetting to scan something is their fault for foisting these stupid cashierless checkouts on their customers.
And the sheeple just take it in stride.
Oh, for the olden days when the checkout line went all the way into the grocery aisles as people waited to get checked out.
The self check-outs reduce the manpower needed somewhat but they also greatly speed up the process for busy customers. Safeguards are built in to prevent innocent people from being charged with anything.
Unless Indiana is a lot different than Nebraska, or unless this was a big store versus the smaller local store, having Walmart security stop a person for mis-scanning while they are still in the store is really, really rare, because the camera alerts the attendants to potential mis-scans and the shopper can’t continue until an attendant intervenes.
Note that she was not charged for shoplifting. And it seems that she was wrongly charged with marijuana possession, if the vapes she had truly contained no marijuana. It almost seems as if maybe a Walmart employee and the cops targeted this gal, because what happened to her is so different than the normal Walmart procedures.
Last time we went to a grocery store (not Aldi) I was loading bags back into the cart, and what USED to be called a bag boy just walked by me, gave me a quick glance and kept walking…..
