Three concussions! I do not see how any doctor would clear him to ever play again.

It has long been suspected that repeated concussions can result in dementia-like symptoms many years after injury, a condition labeled chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). The brain structures damaged in CTE are critical for memory and executive function.

CTE has been studied in boxing, wherein retired boxers developed dementia at a higher rate and a younger age compared with the general population.

Sadly true. But... in sports you get what you get. Many a superstar young athlete has seen his career end due to injury or injuries. At least Tua will not end up on welfare.

In my opinion Hamlin was a freak occurence, it was the timing of the hit, and the odds of it happening again are miniscule, and it seems it didn’t cause any permanent damage.
