Vice President Kamala Harris sat down with an ABC affiliate for her first solo interview Friday, choosing the same network that got her through this week’s slanted presidential debate — but still managed to stumble through softball questions.
She answered five questions from Action News 6 ABC, a local affiliate of ABC News, in the interview that came just days after the moderators in the ABC debate with Donald Trump assisted her by providing fact checks on the former president but not her.
One of the ABC moderators for the debate, Linsey Davis, is a member of Harris’ sorority and Dana Walden, a Disney executive whose portfolio includes ABC, is one of the vice president’s close friends.
Action News 6 ABC anchor Brian Taff asked Harris, 59, what she would specifically do to bring down prices as president.
“Well, I’ll start with this. I grew up as a middle class kid. My mother raised my sister and me. She worked very hard,” she began, before going on about her neighborhood where people “were proud of their lawn.”
“We as Americans have beautiful character. We have ambitions and aspirations and dreams. But not everyone necessarily has access to the resources that can help them fuel those dreams and ambitions,” Harris went on.
She did not say how she would bring prices down but did highlight her proposed policy to give a $25,000 handout to new homeowners and giving tax breaks to new small businesses.
Harris also said she is “obviously not Joe Biden” because she offers an “opportunity economy” and “a new generation of leadership.”
“So, for example, thinking about developing and creating an opportunity economy where it’s about investing in areas that really need a lot of work,” she said, seemingly looking to find words.

Post the picture please (since I’m not competent enough to do it). She’s wearing wrinkled jeans and black Converse tennis shoes. Not serious...
She starts off by answering the first question exactly as she did with the rehearsed answer she gave the other night. A lot of nothing.
I can see a bunch of Starbucks employees with useless degrees getting the $50,000 new start ups.
That would be $50,000 for the likely to fail bs business on top of the $25,000 down payment for the new home on top of the forgiveness of $50,000 student loans for their useless degree.
None of this will ever be paid back.
I see how Harris does her thing, she runs her trap about utter nonsense for 10 minutes to run out the clock..she’s an absolute MORON a freakin MORON..she is asked a simple question from a reporter who was practically patting her on the head throughout about how to fix inflation and she talks about her mommy’s LAWN..seriously is that it
Always remember...
When a democrat says invest they really mean tax someone else!!!
No no no! The Converse shoes just prove how hip and cool she is! /s
Yahoo News told me so.
The problem is that the Democrats are trying to force Trump into compensating them for their own mistakes in the name of the American people deserving to hear from both sides.
President Trump already had two debates with the Democrat candidate; it's not his fault that the Democrats replaced their candidate after the first debate and now want Trump to pretend that never happened.
To use a metaphor, suppose this were a NASCAR race and the Democrat car hit a wall and blew a tire and was forced to pit. They go a lap down while Trump's car continues circling the track at top speed.
Now the Democrats are complaining that it's not fair to the fans that they don't get to see the two cars competing and they demand that Trump must pit, too, so the Democrats can get back on the lead lap.
Trump's team says no, I didn't hit the wall -- you did. You have to find your own way back onto the lead lap. I don't have to help you do that.
< /end metaphor>
It was the Democrats who ignored their own voters and didn't give them the candidate they vote for. It's not on President Trump to give the replacement Democrat another debate to give their candidate the visibility that a primary and first debate would have given. It's up to the Democrats to find a way on their own to make their candidate visible, like more press conferences, interviews, and rally appearances.
It's not President Trump's responsibility to make things right because the Democrats chose to reject the millions of votes of their own base.

She`s a fidiot.
I purchased our 2nd home and paid off my student loans 3 years ago, and am currently a white male, so I probably won’t get $25k for mortgage Reparations or SL payments.
But I wonder if her $6k child tax credit will work like the other schemes. If the Harris IRS writes me a check for $36k each year, can this money be used for anything— say, ammo or freepathon contributions?
Kamala grew up in Montreal Canada between the ages of 12 and 17. Her divorced mom Shyamala worked at the McGill University Jewish General Hospital in Montreal.
Kamala grauated from Westmount High School in Montreal Canada (1978 to 1981).
I would tend to disagree as it looks more like a calculated maneuver to get another chance to deliver some substance on policy to uncommitted voters. Those uncommitted voters pointedly noted she did not deliver that prerequisite.
They based their debate strategy on attacking President Trump and studiously avoiding anything of substance while collaborating moderators covered for her at every possible opportunity.
President Trump can dangle some bait and magnanimously offer another debate, stipulating his choice of venue and format, which leaves them with two options, reject, which is the most likely response, or agree and see what happens.
Could be a bad idea though, as he may be looked upon as being cruel after watching her spectacular and unprecedented “performance”.
I really think that word salad stuff is some weird psyche stuff.
Those Westmount Anglais are sure proud of their lawns! I’m sure they love their yellow school buses as well!
Unfortunately, her “word salad” is just fine with the hordes of low-info, non-critical-thinking “stupids”, who vote.
I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with.
We're both saying that Harris didn't deliver on policy specifics that the independent voters were craving. I gave more credit to the lack of a Harris primary as the reason, instead of using the debate as a performance to attack President Trump at the cost of not revealing her own positions.
Still, the fact is that Harris needs more opportunities to show the voters what she "really" believes -- to get her "message" out. They want the forum of another debate to do that and are trying to publicly shame President Trump into giving them one.
They're saying that Trump won't debate because Harris won, while at the same time they're not acknowledging polls showing that "winner" Harris needs another opportunity to reach the voters because she left them wanting after the first debate.
What I'm saying is that President Trump doesn't have to oblige them of their need. They will have to create their own public shows of Harris:
What President Trump is NOT obligated to do is give Harris another bite at the staged debate apple that he's now done twice to her once, through no fault of his.

All her responses are canned memorized platitudes and generalities. No substance.
