Selena Gomez "can't carry" children due to medical reasons.
The Wizards of Waverly Place actress, 32, recently said she was planning to adopt a baby before she met her music producer boyfriend Benny Blanco, 36, who she has been dating since 2023. She has now revealed she has had to "grieve" her inability to naturally become a mother.
She told Vanity Fair: "I haven't ever said this, but I unfortunately can't carry my own children.
"I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby's in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while."
Selena went on about how she is still determined to become a mum in a "different" way: "It's not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone.
"I'm in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me.
"It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be mums. I'm one of those people. I'm excited for what that journey will look like, but it'll look a little different."
She added surrogacy or adoption would still mean she would be a mum, saying:
"At the end of the day, I don't care. It'll be mine. It'll be my baby."
In 2013, Selena was diagnosed with lupus and four years later successfully received a kidney transplant.
She told Time magazine about how she resigned herself to being a single mum before she got together with Benny: "I was alone for five years and I got really used to it. A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it."
Selena added she then "came up with my plan" — which was for her to adopt at the age of 35 if she "had not met anyone".
She said about things changing when she met Benny: "It just happens when you least expect it."
Selena took her romance with Benny, born Benjamin Levine, public in December, and he has told how his "next goal" is to have children with the actress.
He said on The Howard Stern Show: "That's my next goal, to check the box (of having a family.)
"I have a ton of godkids; I've got a ton of nephews. I love being around kids."

My experience has been that the strongest abortion activists feel that if they can convince others that it’s ok they cam believe it themselves and get rid of their guilt from their own abortions.

Yeah, I have seen stuff about her, seemed like she came out of being a ‘child star’ ok and the medical issues, had a decent career acting/singing as an adult.
Definitely heart breaking for her, I know for women becoming a mother is just a thing deep in their biological makeup they want to do.

Some of the strongest prolife people have also had abortions. Story on here just in the last week.
Conversely, in my experience, some of the loudest religious folks are the most pervers, violent and destructive people attempting to heal themselves or fool others into thinking they’re virtuous.

I find it SO sad that many woman and their husbands who really want children cannot conceive while there are many more women eager to murder their babies.
That is worth grieving over, too.

I’m getting my Selenas mixed up with my Zendayas.
Both girls are from a younger generation, one I don’t pay much attention to in a cultural sense.
Both are hispanic, naturally attractive and part of show business. Both could go by one name.
For some reason, I get the overall feeling that both are nice people. Why? Not that sure. For one thing, I don’t see many articles about either of them ‘Clapping Back’ at somebody who says something a little bit off.

This woman is an abortion activist and has been for many years. Infertility is often caused by abortions. Scar tissue causes problems.
Autoimmune diseases such as lupus are often the body’s way of processing guilt.

You are really off base.
Yes, I am pro life as life is precious. With my research work, I have no doubt that life starts at conception and can easily prove it in demonstrations.
At the same time, as a therapist, I work with women who have had abortions. Often many abortions. I am not there to judge them as they are doing that themselves. My work is to remove the self judgement and self punishment relating to their past experiences.
No matter a person’s belief system, their soul knows that taking a life is wrong and it creates a wound in their soul.
It also compounds other events. Earlier this week I worked with a woman who had two abortions as she did not want another child, and then her only child became ill and died. She was stuck in extreme grief for many years.
So she’s not infertile because of repeated abortions as you claimed?
You are accusing a woman, whom you don’t know, on a story about how she’s upset about not being able to have her own child for medical reasons, of being in that situation for having abortions that made her sterile.
And you’re a therapist?
Should have your license revoked, if you have one.
