JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —
Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters was joined by Duval County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Christopher Bernier to announce five recent arrests of students for threats made to schools, reminding parents and students that making such threats can have life-changing consequences. All three were arrested Tuesday. Waters said the threats were made electronically and gave the following details:
On Aug. 22, an 11-year-old boy made a threat to River City Science Academy in a group chat thread. Waters said that the threat read, “Hello fellow citizens. Don’t worry, just don’t just don’t come to school tomorrow unless you want 15 pounds of lead added to you at an extremely fast rate.” He was arrested for a written threat to conduct a mass shooting, which is a second-degree felony.
On Monday, Sept. 9, a 12-year-old boy made a threat to IDEA River Bluff River Bluff Charter School through Instagram messages. In these messages, Waters said, the boy said he would shoot up the school. He was also arrested for a written threat to conduct a mass shooting. He is not a student at IDEA River Bluff but Ribault Middle School, the school said.
On Tuesday, Sept. 10 13-year-old girl made a threat to IDEA Bassett Charter School, posting an Instagram Story on her account stating, “Don’t come to school tomorrow if you want to live.” She was arrested for sending a written threat to kill, also a second-degree felony. According to her arrest report, she was placed on a 10-day suspension.

Make examples of these kids and others will no doubt think twice before making threats.
Ping!
So young!
A hard look at what kind of parenting (if any) is being done, and also what medications have been administered, how much and for how long.
And I hope her parents gave her a hard time for this.
Hopefully they’ll learn from their mistakes. But if not, that’s on them.
Threats are taking place all across the US. Our local schools had such a threat and some parents did not allow their kids to go to school for a few days.
I don’t ever remember a school being closed because of threats as no one did that BEFORE THE MENTAL HOSPITALS WERE CLOSED in the 1970s.
Problem students were often placed in a mental hospital for “observation” back then.
We just had a youngster arrested in Reno this week for posting weapons pics on line and schools targeted.
BTTT
Also throw the irresponsible arsheloes who claim to be parents into jail. They are responsible for anything their kid says or does.
If some other little TWOT were to yell “fire” in a building the parent would be in cuffs alongside.
Awww. “Parents” claim they cannot monitor what their little brats say on line? Then, keep them off line.
Excerpts: “...announce five recent arrests...”
“All three were arrested...”
Editors?
From the article:
“Bernier said in addition to the three students arrested by JSO, Duval County School Police arrested two students accused of making threats to their school buildings.
One of the threats was toward Mandarin High School and one was against the Young Men’s and Women’s Leadership Academy at Eugene J. Butler.”
Re: “threats”....Question: WHY??????????
All these charges disappear on their 18th birthday.............
When I went to Highland Jr. High and Ribault HS in the late 60’s early 70’s we had racial strife and constant friction. Schools were ‘open’ to anybody who wanted to walk in, no guards, 10 foot fences or resource officers and nobody was shooting up the schools........
What changed?........................
Back in those days at my elementary school we said the pledge of allegiance, sang a patriotic song and prayed every morning.
None of that now......that and many kids these days are medicated.
Also the continued deterioration of the nuclear family.
All that would be my guess as to what has changed.
BTW, all those ‘riots’ that we had back then were pre-planned so we could get out of school....................😉
Ha! We didn’t have that luxury at my school.
Two or three busses of minorities were brought in from the inner city to satisfy the desegregation requirements and most of them didn’t seem to want to be there to begin with.
At an enrollment of around 2,700 predominantly white kids they knew better than to start up. 😏
What Changed?? Social media is what has changed. Kids now have an audience. No different than the Karens of this world calling 911 over any little incident. Even like the keyboard warriors here on this forum that spout off how mean and badass they think they are. In the old days if you spouted off in a bar someone would call you on it and there would be consequences, now people think they can hide and talk s#it without anyone knowing who they are.
