Paleontology and geology records indicate there was more CO2 in Earth’s atmosphere at the time, which resulted in temperatures that were much higher than they are now. This global greenhouse, in turn, created warm ocean circulations that kept the Arctic Ocean free of ice.
~~~~~
Correlation does NOT equal causation. Prove that the warmer temperatures did not cause higher CO2 levels .....or that a third factor did not cause both.
Wildly interesting and worthwhile in and of itself, for the expansion of knowledge.
Then you have the obligatory line at the end, to help justify the future flow of grant money -
“The fossils from this study add a clearer picture of how walnuts evolved during periods of intensely shifting climates and where our modern species came from.”
Wait just a minute. Does this mean that the climate changed and then changed again- that life adapted and survived?
Are these nuts viable? Doesn’t seem so.
Probably good, anyways, 45 million-year-old nuts might be aggressive and grow some trees that walk around and kill dinosaurs.... or us.
