I don't have a link but Jordan Peterson has spoken in many podcasts about how self-deception (including indoctrination) causes the brain to reprogram and rewire itself (software and hardware).

But it isn't in just 30-40%. It is in 100% of the cases.

This is a matter of neuroplasticity (which isn't always a bad thing, of course).
